I literally don’t have an original thought in my head (which often pains me) so each month I am going to be sharing monthly reports based off of the TikTok trend the R.E.P.O.R.T; Reading, Eating, Practicing, Obsessing, Recommending, Treating.
I read Rouge by Mona Awad recently and it was just everything and more. Rouge explores the complexities of mother daughter relationships through the pursuit of beauty. I think it was the right book at the right time for me, it ripped my heart open and put it back together again.
I am currently reading (a very battered copy of) The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh, I loved Blue Ticket so I thought it was about time I picked up another of her feminist dystopian works.
On here I loved Keepsakes Guide to Digital Collage.I have been dipping my toe into collaging since starting The Artist’s Way.
We’re holidaying in North Wales currently which has included lots of hikes, paddle boarding and beach days so I’ve been mainly living off soggy sandwiches and water from a water bladder which constantly has an aftertaste of fairy liquid.
Finding myself, I wrote a whole post about unlearning to live so I won’t go into it here but shortly after I came across this quote which really resonated with me.
I’ve been practicing my paddle boarding skills in North Wales. We stayed 20 minutes away from Llyn Padarn in Snowdonia so we’ve been taking the boards down most days. If I could bottle the feeling of sitting on a paddle board in the middle of a lake surrounded by mountains I would.
I have been obsessed with finding my creativity through The Artist’s Way which I am sharing through my “Lessons Learned” series.
Finding waterfalls, lakes or any natural bodies of water to take a plunge in is addictive. The harder the hike to them the more rewarding the dip.
The Dallas Texas Cowboy Cheerleaders have had me in a choke hold since 2006 so I was delighted to see a Netflix documentary about them.
Documenting moments through Polaroid photos, I just love that they are imperfect and don’t show up every detail of you in a way that makes you super critical.
I couldn’t recommend a trip to North Wales more. It’s relatively cheap accommodation wise and you’re surrounded by mountains, lakes and beaches all of which are free to visit. If you get the right weather you’re onto a winner.
I treated myself to some Birkenstock Bostons this month, I’ve been lusting over them since last summer but it doesn’t come naturally to me to spend over £100 on a pair of shoes. In the end I just had one of those ‘fuck it, I deserve a treat’ moments.
I’m on holiday and everything we have planned is free so I have been making the most of being frivolous in cafes which has been absolute bliss; flat white by the harbour anyone?
So bloody jealous of your Birkenstock bostons!! I’ve wanted them for ages x
